GUJRAT: Another victim of the house fire incident in Noorpur Pady locality along Railway Road succumbed to her burn injuries at the Jinnah Hospital, Lahore, on Thursday morning.

Earlier on Wednesday evening, a woman was killed and six others were injured when a fire broke out in the upper storey of the house of Adnan Padda due to leakage of a gas cylinder.

Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Ayaz Nasir confirmed the death of 15-year-old Haram Adnan who, he said, had been received in a critical condition at the hospital from where she was referred to Lahore where she succumbed to her burn wounds.

However, the remaining injured persons, including the siblings and the uncle of Haram, were being given treatment in the burns unit of the ABSTH. Her mother, Mehtab, had died while being shifted to the hospital on Wednesday.

Both the house fire victims were laid to rest in a local graveyard.

ARRESTED: Gujranwala police claimed on Thursday to have arrested the main suspect involved in an attempt on the life of a lawyer.

Gujranwala District Bar Association members had staged a protest demonstration in front of the CPO Office against the life attempt on their colleague a few days ago demanding early arrest of the main suspect.

A spokesman for Gujranwala police claimed Ijaz, who was a key suspect in the incident of shooting lawyer Adil Azam, had been arrested.

Police produced Ijaz before the Gujranwala anti-terrorism court judge on Thursday. The judge handed over the suspect to Civil Lines police on a four-day physical remand.

The injured lawyer was admitted to a Lahore hospital as he sustained bullet injuries on his both legs and the doctors had to cut his one leg.
