BAHAWALPUR: The Multan additional sessions judge on Thursday handed down death sentence with a fine of Rs200,000 to a double murder convict.

According to the prosecution, convict Muhammad Irfan had shot dead his sister, Fatima, and brother-in-law for contracting love marriage near the Sabzi Mandi in the limits of Shah Rukn-i-Alam police station in Multan in 2023.

ENCOUNTER: An alleged cattle-and motorcycle lifter Rab Nawaz involved in as many as 14 cases was injured in a police encounter near Shahpur Phal in the limits of Kahror Pacca police station in Lodhran district on Thursday.

According to the police spokesperson, a police party was escorting Rab Nawaz for recovery when they were attacked allegedly by his three accomplices, including Abbas and Farooq Joyia.

In an exchange of fire, Rab Nawaz was injured in firing by his accomplices and was shifted to a hospital.

His accomplices, however, managed to escape.

BURNT: A boy suffered burn injuries when his clothes caught fire while preparing tea in Basti Luqman near Noorpur, about 35km from here, on Thursday.

According to Rescue 1122, Muhammad Sameer (13) was shifted to Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) in a serious condition.
