LAKKI MARWAT: The district health department held an anti-dengue walk here on Thursday to sensitise people about the hazards of the mosquito-borne disease.

Led by the district health office’s medical entomologist Jameel Khan, health and local government officials, especially secretaries of the village and neighbourhood councils participated in the walk.

The participants carried banners inscribed with messages highlighting the symptoms, treatment and precautions of the disease.

Earlier, the health experts imparted training to the local government officials so as to enable them to implement the dengue control and prevention plan.

They said that the training session was arranged to enhance capacity of the local government officials to fight the vector-borne diseases effectively. The health officials informed that a total of 47 positive cases had been detected in the district so far and stressed for all-out efforts to eliminate the fatal disease.

MAN KILLED: A man was killed over a petty dispute in Mir Azam Michenkhel area. According to the police, Nasrullah Jan, 51, and his brother Baidullah Jan, 30, were attacked by Umar Khan and his sons Rustam Khan and Naikum Khan while they were returning home.

Baidullah received gunshot wounds and died before arriving at the hospital.Nasrullah, who was unharmed, reported to Dadiwala police that the assailants left the spot following the assault. Police registered a case and started investigation.
