QUETTA: The Election Tribunal of the Balochistan High Court has rejected a petition filed against retired Captain Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, the speaker of the Balochistan Assembly, and upheld his victory from PB-51 Chaman.

The petition was filed by Muhammad Asghar Achakzai, the provincial president of Awami National Party, who lost the election. The petitioner alleged that rigging in the election led to the victory of Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, a PML-N candidate.

After hearing both sides, Justice Abdullah Baloch had reserved his decision, which he announced on Thursday.
