RAWALPINDI: Traders on Friday stressed the need for improving security at shopping areas and removing encroachments to streamline traffic in the garrison city.

A delegation of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) led by its president, Usman Shaukat, met Regional Police Officer (RPO) Babar Sarfraz.

During the meeting, President Usman Shaukat invited the RPO to visit the chamber, along with CPO and CTO, to which RPO Babar Sarfraz agreed. He said he planned to visit the chamber next week and discuss business community’s issues.

Mr Shaukat emphasised the need for reactivating the police post and patrol in Rawat Industrial Estate.

The chamber’s president stressed the need for finding a lasting solution to encroachments in the city markets, which include reducing traffic congestion and reviving the Police-Chamber Coordination Committee.

Regional Police Officer Babar Sarfraz assured the delegation that the police were making efforts to curb street crime, theft, and other security issues across the city, prioritising the safety and well-being of the business community.
