MIRPURKHAS: About 300 suspicious pesticide bottles were seized from a shop in Kot Ghulam Muhammad Town, officials said on Friday.

The action was taken by the deputy director of the Mirpurkhas agriculture extension department, Ghulam Mujtuba Lakho, during an operation launched against unscrupulous firms selling fake, spurious and unregistered pesticides and fertilizer on a large scale in the district.

During an inquiry with shopkeepers, the officer found that the accused shop owner, Seth Abid Kaim Khani, had been running various fertilizer and pesticide shops for the past many years in the town on the basis of a licence issued by the Mirpurkhas agriculture extension department, which was illegal.

He also paid a surprise visit to a pesticide and fertilizer dealer shop in

Mir Ji Landhi Town, taluka KGM, where he checked the suspected fertilizers and pesticides and acquired various samples for laboratory testing.

Later, the officer wrote a letter to the director plant protection Hyderabad, Shankar Lal Talib, and complained about the man running multiple shops in Kot Ghulam Mohammad Town illegally on one licence of the department.
