ISLAMABAD: Iran has shown interest in developing and enhancing medical tourism with Pakistan.

This was said by Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Mughaddam while addressing participants of an event held at Maroof International Hospital during its Annual Staff Fest, a celebration dedicated to recognise the work and commitment of its employees.

“Events like these not only boost morale but also reinforce the strong team spirit that is vital for any successful organisation,” the Iranian ambassador said.

Highlighting the strong historical ties between Iran and Pakistan, Mr Mughaddam expressed Iran’s readiness to expand scientific exchange and collaboration with Pakistan and discuss the potential for developing medical tourism between the two nations.

The hospital’s CEO, Haroon Naseer, and the ambassador discussed potential collaboration in various medical fields, including research, surgery and liver transplantation.

“In Pakistan, the nurse-to-patient ratio is approximately 1:40, significantly lower than the recommended 3:10 ratio.

This shortage places immense pressure on the healthcare system.
