WAKE-UP CALL: Palestine has been under the intense wrath of Israel’s brutality for more than a year. Thousands of people, including innocent children, have been killed and their houses have been destro-yed. The sacred land of Al Aqsa was subjugated and occupied after World War II by the colonial powers to establish Israel. Palestinian Muslims have been fighting to protect their land and holy places since then. The current situation is a wake-up call for the entire Muslim world. The time has come to raise our voices against Israel, and to do something to protect our Palestinian brethren.

BLAST SITE: It has been several weeks since the unfortunate incident of suicide bombing took place in Karachi. The road is still cordoned off, and the charred remains of the damaged vehicles have not been removed from the scene. The road happens to be the main artery connecting the outgoing traffic from the airport to Sharea Faisal. Due to its closure, motorists have to take a cumbersome detour. Besides, the presence of the damaged vehicles is disturbing for local and foreign visitors. The authorities concerned need to fast-track the process of evidence collection, and open the road to normal traffic as soon as possible.

GENDER TOXICITY: Social media platforms provide a horrible glimpse into the reality of Pakistani mindset. From political leaders to the man on the street, gender toxicity remains rife, with male chauvinism ruling the roost. Unfortunately, the mindset speaks volumes of the historical prejudice against women in Pakistani society. Toxic digital spaces across social media platforms have enabled people to bully, harass as well as force women into silence. They pass offensive remarks about women, which has become the unfortunate norm. If the government can build a firewall worth billions to counter misinformation, it can also devise a comprehensive policy to tackle gender-related harassment.
