KARACHI: A woman suffered a bullet wound when she accidentally fired the pistol of her friend in their car along the Seaview beach on Sunday morning.

Police said that at around 5am a car crashed onto the Seaview Road footpath causing a tyre to burst. At the same time, a gunshot was also heard and a police patrol arrived at the scene and found a man and a woman who sustained a bullet wound to her hand.

She was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.

SSP-South Sajid Amir Sadozai told Dawn the injured woman, identified as Erum Aziz, told the police that she was checking the pistol of her friend when it accidentally went off. She said she didn’t want to pursue any legal action.

However, the police arrested the suspect, identified as Muhammad Umer Memon, as he failed to produce the licence of the pistol.

A case was registered against him under Section 23-A of the Sindh Arms Act, 2013 at the Darakhshan police station.
