TOBA TEK SINGH: Jahania police of Khanewal district have arrested a woman, who falsely implicated two men in a case for “kidnap, rape and murder” of her 12-year-old son, who has been found to be alive, and was sent to her aunt’s house by his mother.

On the complaint of Shehnaz Bibi, Jahanian police had registered on Oct 23 a case against two suspects, Anwarul Haq and Mohsin, for allegedly kidnapping, raping and killing his minor son, Shehroz.

Acting on the complaint, the police arrested both suspects and started investigation into the matter.

Police sources says while the investigation was underway, an acquaintance of Shehnaz’s family spotted the boy (Shehroz) in a picture taken at a wedding hall in Nishatabad locality of Faisalabad and reported to Khanewal police.

The Khanewal police brought the matter into notice of Faisalabad City Police Officer Kamran Adil, who formed a police team, which traced and recovered the child from the house of hisaunt inGhulam Muhammadabad locality (Faisalabad).

The police also arrested Shehnaz Bibi for lodging a false case against the two men who were still behind the bars.

The sources say that it transpired during further investigation that Shehnaz sent her son to his aunt’s house in Faisalabad and staged the drama of his kidnapping, rape and murder just to implicate the two men, against whom she had some grudge.

HEARING ADJOUNED: Faisalabad anti-terrorism court (ATC) special judge Javed Iqbal Sheikh on Monday adjourned until Nov 7 the hearing of May 9 cases registered against PTI parliamentary leader in the National Assembly Zartaj Gul Wazir, NA opposition leader Umar Ayub Khan and several other party leaders and workers.

The cases (FIRs No732 and 832) against the PTI leaders and others were registered at the Civil Lines andSamanabad police stations, respectively, under section 7 of the Anti Terrorism Act (ATA) on May 9, 2023 for their alleged involvement in the attacks on the ISI office and the residence of former interior minister Rana Sanaullah Khan during riots erupting after the PTI founder Imran Khan’s arrest.

The PTI leaders, including Zarataj Gul, MNA Zain Qureshi, PTI west Punjab president MNA Rai Hassan Nawaz and MPA Rai Murtaza Iqbal appeared before the court.

However, the counsel for Umar Ayub Khan gave an application for his client’s one-time exemption from appearing in the court due to his trials in other courts.

The judge accepted the application and adjourned the hearing, while issuing arrest warrants for dozens of other PTI leaders and activists, who had not so far appeared before the court in the same cases. He ordered the police to produce them on the next hearing on Nov 7.

Meanwhile, Ms Zartaj Gul said speaking to the media outside the court that PTI workers were being presented as terrorists to force them to leave Imran Khan.

She said the 26th amendment spoiled the shape of the Constitution.

She said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif himself has admitted that this budget was the IMF’s budget.

She criticised the government for selling national assets to fulfill the requirements of IMF.

BOOKED: Faisalabad Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) registered a case against a clerk of the office of Toba assistant commissioner on Monday.

The action was taken on the complaint of a citizen, Siddique, who alleged that clerkNaeemul Hassan received bribe from him for transferring inherited land in his name.

The charge against the clerk was proved in the inquiry. However, the suspect had not been arrested so far.
