Sexual assault suspect escapes police custody

BAHAWALPUR: A suspect arrested in the sexual assault case of a child in Mian Channuu in Khanewal district escaped from police custody on Sunday.

He was in the custody and under investigation of ASI Ashfaq from whom he escape.

Khanewal DPO Ismail Kharak suspended the ASI and ordered departmental investigation and arrest of the suspect.

ARRESTED: The Federal Investigation Agency, Multan, claimed on Monday to have arrested a man from Burewala for his alleged involvement in human smuggling.

The FIA said suspect Nawaz was found involved in the visa fraud and human smuggling and had received a sum of Rs500,000 from a citizen to send him to Saudi Arabia. He was lodged in FIA lock-up. Further investigation is under way.

Meanwhile, a joint team of FIA and Mepco during raids in Hassanabad and Gulghast colony in Multan claimed to have found Mepco former employees Naeem Ashraf and Sohail Sarwar for pilferage of electricity.

On raiding team’s complaint, FIA registered cases against them and fined them heavily.

SUICIDE: A mother of two died by suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in her house in Multan’s Zai Town Peeran Ghaib in the limits of Seatle Mari police precincts on Monday.

According to police sources, Sumaira (32) quarreled with her husband Asef Ramzan over financial matters and opted for suicide. Further investigation is under way.

DRUG PEDDLER: Qureshiwala police in Lodhran claimed to have arrested a woman drug trafficker, Samina Mushtaq, near Pul Baghwali and recovered 1,120 gram charas. She was lodged in police lock-up.
