PESHAWAR: Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Pakistan South Africa Trade Federation (PSATF) have decided to launch joint initiatives to attract foreign investment in various sectors of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The decision was taken during a meeting of SCCI and a delegation of PSATF, which was headed by its chairman Mohammad Rafiq Memon, according to a statement issued here on Monday.

SCCI president Fazal Moqeem Khan, PSATF general secretary Ikramullah Jan, its president for the Middle East, KP and Islamabad region Mumtaz Khan Yousafzai and others were also present.

The meeting highlighted the province’s potential for investment in various sectors.

The participants underscored the need for launching joint ventures to boost Pakistan-South Africa trade and economic relations.

The participants agreed that both sides would take necessary steps to provide an enabling environment to investors in KP and fully exploit potential and experiences of each other to improve the bilateral trade.

PSATF chairman Rafiq Memon said South African investors were ready to make investments in tourism, hoteling and other sectors of KP.

He, however, sought SCCI assistance to provide a conducive environment to the investors in the province.

SCCI president Fazal Moqeem said vast opportunities existed for investments in various sectors of the province.

He welcomed the willingness of African investors to make investment in KP, and assured the SCCI’s full cooperation in that regard.
