TAXILA: Former senator of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Azam Swati was re-arrested immediately after being released from Attock jail on Tuesday.
Swati was taken into custody by Taxila police as soon as he stepped out of the jail in the early hours. This comes after an anti-terrorism court granted him bail the day before in several cases linked to PTI’s protests on Oct 4.
Following his arrest, Swati was taken to an undisclosed location by the police.
Police sources said that Azam Swati was arrested in connection with a case registered at the Taxila police station, under case number 2311, which includes 20 different sections of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) including attempted murder and abduction besides sections 7 and 21 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).
Earlier, ATC Judge Abul Hasnat accepted Swati’s post-arrest bail plea, on surety bonds of Rs 20,000 each.
An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has sent Swati to jail on judicial remand on Nov 2.
