SUKKUR: A mechanic died and his associate suffered severe burns when a van, they were working on, caught fire near Sukkur Civil Hospital within the limits of C-Section police station late on Wednesday evening.

The mechanics, Irfan Shaikh and Saeed Ahmed Rajput were repairing the van’s wires when it suddenly caught fire. The two men sustained severe burns and were rushed to the nearby hospital where doctors provided them emergency treatment and then shifted them the Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) due to their critical condition.

On Thursday, Irfan Shaikh succumbed to the burns at the GIMS, while his companion was still under treatment.
