LAHORE: The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) on Friday launched the model village project in Lahore, starting with Baddoki village.

Under the project, villages in Lahore will be cleaned on a regular basis, adopting the best waste collection and disposal practices.

“The significant measures are being undertaken to enhance sanitation services in both urban and rural areas, in line with the instructions of the Chief Minister,” said LWMC Chief Executive Officer Babar Sahib Din at the model village launch ceremony in Baddoki.

The project will focus on providing door-to-door waste collection services, along with the necessary infrastructure to ensure that the village remains free of garbage.

As many as seven sanitary workers, three hand-carts, and one chain arm roller have been deployed for waste collection, while dolly containers have been placed at key locations to help keep the village clean.

The residents of Baddoki village welcomed cleanliness efforts. In a phased approach, all union councils in Lahore will be transformed into model areas for sanitation. The first phase involves the villages within 42 union councils.

A camp was set up in Baddoki village, and announcements were made encouraging residents to keep their streets clean.
