Have you ever felt nervousness along with excitement? That’s what I felt when I experienced my first airplane journey.

I went to my grandmother’s house in Islamabad during the last summer vacation, with my mother and my siblings. We travelled by train and were very excited because we have so much fun during the journey. And in Islamabad, I got to meet some old friends, go for picnics and do a lot of fun activities.

Everything went smoothly, and we had a great time with grandma and all our cousins. Time passed quickly and then it was time for us to go home. We started packing our things when father called and told us that he had a surprise for us -- he had booked airplane tickets and we would travel by air this time. We were very thrilled as this was to be our first time on a flight.

On our departure day, after we said goodbye to everyone, we headed to the airport. As we arrived, I felt bubbles inside my stomach, because I was very anxious about being so high in the air on a plane. There were so many people at the airport. We checked in our luggage, collected our boarding pass and were all set to step on to the plane that would take us through the skies.

Upon boarding, we received a warm welcome from the flight attendant, who then guided us to our seats. I quickly grab the window seat. After everyone had boarded and found their seats, the flight attendant briefed us on safety procedures, and shortly after the plane started to move. I was excitedly gazing out of the window and gradually the plane ascended into the air. At that moment, I got really scared and started praying. But once the plane reached its cruising altitude, my fear subsided a bit and, in no time, I was captivated by the stunning and breath-taking view from the plane. I was mesmerised by the beautiful clouds and green landscape that I saw from above. I was completely lost in the view. Shortly after, the flight attendant presented us with some refreshments and drinks, which were so good and fresh.

On the plane, I saw passengers were engrossed in watching movies, playing games or sleeping. I remained captivated by the view outside the window, which was mesmerising enough to hold my attention for hours. But time passed quickly and the plane prepared for descent.

As the plane descended, it experienced minor turbulence, causing us to feel a bit frightened. Slowly, the plane stabilised and the beautiful view of the city was clearly visible from the window. Moment later, we touched down smoothly at the airport. I was very happy that my first flight was a stunning, safe and unforgettable experience that I’ll cherish forever.
