PESHAWAR: Four terrorists were killed in exchange of fire with security forces in two separate engagements in North Waziristan district, the military’s media wing said.
A statement issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Sunday said that the first clash took place in Spinwam area of the district where security forces effectively engaged the “khwarij” positions (the military’s terminology for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan) in an Intelligence Based Operation and killed two of them in exchange of fire.
The statement said that in another clash, which also took place in the same area, the security forces picked up movement of armed assailants who were trying to infiltrate the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in North Waziristan.
The security forces thwarted the attempt and killed two terrorists, while two others were wounded during the exchange of fire, ISPR said.
It added sanitisation operations were being conducted to eliminate other armed insurgents in the area, adding that security forces were determined to secure the country’s borders and eliminate terrorism.
