RAHIM YAR KHAN: The district police claimed to have recovered a doctor kidnapped by a Katcha area gang on Wednesday.

Dr Khalid Mehmood was kidnapped by unidentified dacoits on October 21 when he was on way to the Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences in Kairpur, Sindh. He belonged to RYK but served at GIMS.

The dacoits demanded Rs 15 million ransom for his release. Police said Dr Khalid was recovered from dacoits after an encounter with Katcha area outlaws at the Punjab-Sindh border. Five of the kidnappers were also arrested.
