Three die in road accidents

RAWALPINDI: Three people, one of them a university student, were killed, while another was injured in two separate road accidents on Thursday.

A female student was hit by a vehicle on Peshawar Road and was shifted to hospital but she succumbed to her injuries, while two persons lost their lives in the second road accident on Motorway near Kallar Kahar.

Athar Rashid, lodged an FIR with the Westridge police saying that he received a call from his younger sister who was preparing for CSS exam at a private institute near Chairing Cross saying a vehicle hit her while she was standing alongside the road near a private clinic.

He said that his sister was badly injured and rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) where she succumbed to her injuries. The accused was yet to be identified by the police.

The second road accident happened on Motorway North Zone when a speeding car in which three persons were traveling crashed into a long vehicle from behind near Kallar Kahar, while going to Toba Tek Singh from Islamabad on Thursday.

Mukhtar Hussain sub-inspector lodged an FIR with the police saying that he and his subordinate were on night patrol duty, when they received an emergency call related to a road accident. He said that following the emergency call, they rushed to the scene and found a car driven by Jamil Yousuf, resident of Toba Tek Singh, crashed into a trailer from behind.

The trailer was loaded with cement bags, driven by Noor Mohammad, resident of Bannu, As a result of the accident, the man traveling in the car on second seat died on the spot while the car driver and Muhammad Shakoor who was sitting on the back seat sustained multiple injuries.

He further said that the injured were shifted to the trauma center Kallar Kahar by the emergency Rescue 1122. On reaching the hospital, the driver also died, while the injured was stated to be in critical condition.
