KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Friday night expanded his cabinet and reshuffled portfolios of six ministers, 10 special assistants and three advisers.

Mukesh Kumar Chawla made his way to the provincial cabinet again as the CM appointed him a provincial minister and gave him the portfolio of excise, taxation and narcotics control.

He has remained Sindh’s excise and taxation minister for years. Although he won the Feb 8 general election on a provincial assembly seat from Jacobabad, he was not inducted into the provincial cabinet.

Official sources said his oath-taking ceremony is likely to be held next week.

According to various notifications, provincial minister Muhammad Ali Malkani has been given portfolio of livestock and fisheries.

Three advisers — Dost Ali Rahimoon Babul Khan and Najmi Alan — have been given portfolios of environment, climate change and coastal development; forest and wildlife; and Katchi Abadis.

The CM also reshuffled portfolios to 10 special assistants. Lal Chand Ukrani was given portfolio of minorities; Qasim Shah, public private partnership and investment departments; Sarfaraz Rajar, social protection, Waqar Mehdi, CM Inspection Team; Rajvir Singh, human rights; Mansoor Shahani, student affairs; Usman Hingoro, bureau of supply and prices; Abdul Jabbar Khan, food; Junaid Buland, Sindh technical education and vocational training authority;and Mohammad Salim Baloch was given the portfolio of public health engineering and ruler development.

The additional portfolios of four ministers have been allocated to the new advisers and special assistants and now Sharjeel Memon got portfolios of information, transport and mass transit; Saeed Gani, local government; Jam Khan Shoro, irrigation; and Mohammed Bakhsh Khan Mahar possessed the portfolios of agriculture, sports and youth affairs, enquiry and anti-corruption establishment.
