FLOODED FIELDS

FLOODED FIELDS: Excessive spells of monsoon rain had caused floods in Sindh a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, thousands of acres of land in Tando Allayhar district remain inundated even today. Local farmers are struggling and suffering financially, unable to earn even their bread and butter. The government should take steps for constructing a proper drainage system in the area. This will boost the country’s economy, food security and, most importantly, the livelihood of poor farmers in the region.

EDUCATION IN JIWANI: During my matriculation years ago, our school in Gwadar district’s Jiwani area used to arrange career counselling sessions. It is regrettable that no such sessions are organised anymore. Many students are passionate about their studies, but they drop out after matriculation owing to circumstantial pressures. Moreover, there is a shortage of teachers in local schools, leading to poor attendance. It is essential to establish an educational committee in Jiwani that may conduct monthly career counselling sessions to keep the students motivated. Local university students should also find the time to engage with their younger counterparts to inspire them and foster a greater love for academic knowledge.

DICHOTOMOUS SOCIETY: The strange dichotomy in our society raises numerous questions. A massive number of people in Pakistan are leading an extremely impoverished life and struggling to put food on the table. On the other hand, restaurants and shopping malls are full to their capacity with those who can afford to enjoy the luxuries of life. Who is responsible for this dichotomy in society? By blaming the government, we, the people, try to throw away our responsibility and cover our own hypocrisy. We must realise our duty as family, friends, neighbours and colleagues instead of simply placing all the responsibility on the government.
