DAMASCUS: Syria is committed to the ceasefire with Israel but … will repulse forcefully any Israeli aggression, the [Syrian] Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister, Mr. Abdel Halim Khaddam, said last night [Nov 16]. Mr. Khaddam said … that the past few days, especially during the past 24 hours, Israel stepped up its tendentious campaign against Syria aimed at misleading world public opinion and covering up its aggressive designs. Mr. Khaddam said that by fabricating this uproar, Israel aims at paving the way for a new aggression against Syria under the pretext that Syria is preparing for military action against it.

[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies from Stanford, California], scientists yesterday [Nov 16] announced the unexpected discovery of a new kind of elementary particle, called PSI. A spokesman called it one of the biggest events in high energy physics in years anywhere in the world. The discovery was made accidentally at almost the same time at the Stanford Linear Acceleration Centre and at the Brookhaven National Laboratory in New York. Burton Richter, head of the Stanford team, said the PSI particle is different from all the other particles we know.
