Colombo to host Asia snooker

KARACHI, April 10: The 22nd edition of Asia Snooker Championship will be held at Colombo (Sri Lanka) from June 30 to July 7, Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) announced on Monday.

The Asian Confederation of Billiards Sport has allocated the event to Billiards and Snooker of Sri Lanka, PBSA president Asghar Valika said.

He said the association would prepare new selection policy to pick two-member Pakistan squad for continental championship.

“I am deeply disappointed with performance of Pakistan cueists in the 7-nation Kataria International in Dubai,” he said on his return from United Arab Emirates.

“It was below par showing from the most experienced players like Mohammad Yousuf, Saleh Mohammad and Naveen Perwani,” he maintained.

Pakistan failed to make into last four stages of the championship after losing to Thailand and India and managed to defeat only low rated UAE ‘B’.
