GUJRAT: A man committed suicide after slaughtering his wife over a domestic dispute in Chah Berriwala locality of the city.
Reports said Basheer Bhatti and his wife Saima would often quarrel with each other. On Monday, he killed his wife with a sharp-edged knife and consumed poisonous pills.
Bhatti was shifted to the Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital where he died.
Police also reached the spot and shifted Saima’s body to the hospital.
Both the bodies of the deceased couple were handed over to the heirs after the legal procedure.
SHOT DEAD: A youth shot his father dead for contracting the second marriage at village Badho Bhatti of Tanda police.
Qasid Hussain had contracted the second marriage a couple of months back that was not acceptable to his children and other family members. His son, Kashif Raza, had an altercation with him over the same issue on Monday. Kashif shot his father in the head with a pistol and killed him. The suspects fled the scene.
The deceased was shifted to the Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital where doctors conducted an autopsy and handed the body over to his family.
Tanda police registered a case against the suspect.
KILLED: A robbery suspect was killed and his two accomplices were tortured by the villagers who caught them as they tried to flee after robbing a grocery shop at village Mandeer on the Kharian-Dinga Road.
Reports said six unidentified robbers entered the shop of Malik Azad to rob the shop but its owner offered resistance. The suspects opened fire on him but he survived. However, a bullet hit one of the suspects. On hearing the gunshots, the villagers gathered around the shop, making the suspects flee. Two robbers entered a house while remaining three managed to flee after robbing Rs2m.
The locals overpowered the remaining robbers, including the wounded one, and subjected them to severe torture. Kharian Saddar police were called and they arrested the suspects and shifted them to the Kharian Tehsil Headquarters Hospital where the injured robber succumbed to his wounds.
Meanwhile, two armed robbers robbed Gujrat Press Club President Syed Naveed Shah at village Julliani of the Rehmania police area.
The armed suspects intercepted Mr Shah at gunpoint and snatched Rs35,000 and a cell phone from him.
Police registered a case.
