SARGODHA: Two motorcyclists sprayed five members of a family with bullets in front of the main gate of the district court, killing one and injuring four others, including two women, here on Tuesday.

As per police sources, five members of a family from village 73 Chak Balochanwala while coming to appear in the family court were intercepted by their opponents, who, besides firing attacked with a dagger as well.

Ijaz was killed while Shamim, Kausar Parveen, Nawaz and Umar Draz were injured by bullets and stab wounds. All were taken to Dr Faisal Masood Teaching Hospital for autopsy and treatment.

According to initial reports, the incident took place due to an old enmity. Two attackers have been arrested and police are conducting raids to nab others.

Strict legal action will be taken against the suspects, Sargodha DPO Dr. Asad Ejaz Malhi said, seeking a report from the city sub-divisional police officer.

ACCIDENT: A 34-year-old man was run over and killed by a speeding official vehicle bearing green number plate KBG 1023 on Ajanala Road. One person was seriously injured.

Muhammad Adnan, a resident of Pind Dadan Khan (Jhelum), died on the spot, and 24-year-old Khurram Shahzad of Muhammadi Colony was seriously injured in the accident, according to rescue sources. The body and the injured person were shifted to District Teaching Hospital Sargodha

STREETLIGHTS: Streetlights installed at a cost of Rs125 million in the city could not be illuminated by Municipal Corporation Sargodha due to alleged mismanagement and poor planning.

The project had not been properly planned due to which the streetlights could not be operationalised even after a lapse of two years while the contractor has been paid more than Rs100 million.

The Municipal Corporation administrator has asked the municipality for a detailed report on streetlights.
