Suspect, who had injured ASI, killed in ‘encounter’

TOBA TEK SINGH: A suspect, who had shot at and injured an ASI on Tuesday, was killed in an encounter with Toba Saddar police on Wednesday.

Zahid Javed, a resident of Chak 289-JB, had injured ASI Muhammad Nasir Bajwa during a police raid on Tuesday. He was killed in an encounter with Toba Saddar police on Wednesday.

According to a police spokesperson, a Toba Saddar police team attempted to stop two suspects riding a motorcycle on Khumanawala Road near Sem Nullah.

However, the suspects fled toward Chak 331 JB Athwal Bypass Road.

When police chased them, the suspects opened fire, prompting the police to retaliate.

When the firing ceased, one of the suspects was found injured, while the other managed to escape.

The injured suspect, later identified as Zahid Javed, was being shifted to the DHQ Hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

Police claimed that Javed was killed in firing by his accomplice.

ASI Bajwa is in a critical condition at Allied Hospital in Faisalabad.

SUICIDE: A young man died by suicide at Chak 596 GB at Faisalabad on Wednesday.

Reports said Muhammad Naeem (26) quarreled with his parents over a monetary issue and he locked himself in a room of his house where he shot himself dead.

HOSTAGE: A proclaimed offender in an attempted murder case held his wife and children hostage as a human shield to avoid arrest during a raid by Tandlianwala City police. However, after negotiations involving the elders of his village Chak 420 GB, he courted arrest on Wednesday.

According to a police spokesperson, when a team arrived at the residence of the accused identified as PO Shoaib, he opened fire on the officials and then held his wife and children hostage to evade capture.

Following mediation by local elders, Shoaib agreed to surrender after arrival of CPO Kamran Adil from Faisalabad.
