LAHORE: Police on Monday completely closed down the Lahore Ring Road ahead of the PTI’s call for agitation on Sunday (tomorrow), anticipating unrest or violent protests.

Police acted when the DIG operations wrote to the Lahore Ring Road Authority for closure down the Ring Road, saying the miscreants and troublemakers might damage public and private properties and escalate the law and order situation.

The letter stated that the Lahore police were responsible to ensure safety and security of the public and public/private properties.

“In this regard, you are requested for complete closure of the Ring Road during the law and order situation from 8hrs to 18hrs on 23 & 24 Nov,” reads the official letter.

There are reports that police have placed barricades and containers on all the entry/exit points of the Ring Road besides intensifying patrol to ensure implementation of the order.

The police personnel deployed at the points asked the motorists to use the alternate route to reach their destinations.
