KARACHI: All the first three position in Class XII commerce (regular) annual exams, conducted by the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK), were clinched by the students of private colleges in the city.
According to the results announced by BIEK Chairman Prof Amir Hussain Qadri on Friday, student of Tabani’s College Muhammad Sami Altaf secured first position as he got 983 marks out of a total of 1,100. Rabia Imran Chhapra, a student of Comecs College, got second position with 975 marks and Javeria Taj, a student of Bahria College Karsaz, clinched third position with 970 marks.
Not a single student from any government college in the metropolis secured a position in the exam.
This year 34,451 candidates registered for the commerce regular group exams, while 33,610 took the exam, out of which 12,087 candidates were declared successful. Thus the success ratio was 35.96 per cent.
Some 169 candidates passed with an ‘A-1’ grade, 1,123 passed with an ‘A’ grade, 2,306 got a ‘B’, 4,450 got ‘C’, 3,760 got ‘D’ while 279 candidates passed with an ‘E’ grade.
The BIEK chairman congratulated the successful students and said that after the announcement of all the intermediate results, a big ceremony will be held for the position-holder students.
