EBM’s initiative for children

This World Children’s Day, English Biscuit Manufacturers (EBM) shared a message from Peek Freans Sooper, as per a press release. Aligned with this year’s global theme, the initiative serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of fairness for children in all aspects of life.

EBM has championed initiatives for decades under its sustainability pillar, #NourishForEquity, with a focus on universal access to education, promoting systematic behaviour change, advancing gender diversity, creating livelihoods, ensuring financial inclusion for women, and empowering youth.

To date, EBM has supported the education of 35,000 children and remains steadfast in its mission to reach 100,000 children by 2030.

Celebrating women entrepreneurs

Bank of Khyber (BoK) celebrated Women Entrepreneurship Day 2024 at its women-centric branch in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as per a press release. The event highlighted the bank’s commitment to promoting financial literacy, providing opportunities for women entrepreneurs, and offering tailored financial services to meet their unique needs.

A series of impactful activities aimed at promoting women entrepreneurs were held, including an awareness session at Women University, Mardan, sessions with entrepreneurs at the Centre for Governance and Public Accountability platform, participation in the Lahore Women Gala to showcase and support women-led projects and businesses and hosting an exclusive seminar at BoK head office for entrepreneurs.

The 11th Tameer Awards

Recently acquired by Wafi Energy, Shell Pakistan hosted the finale of the 11th Tameer Awards 2024, as per a press release. The event celebrated enthusiastic and aspiring entrepreneurs of Pakistan.

The Awards attracted over 400 applications, with 30 finalists selected across six categories.

Following in-depth pitches to the respective jury members, the winners and runners-up in each category were chosen for their innovation and excellence.

Since Tameer’s inception, over a million youths have been engaged through this programme.

Nine Tameer entrepreneurs won the global Shell “Top Ten Innovators Awards” worth Rs10.4m, receiving global and national recognition.

KE’s kunda crackdown

K-Electric, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, acted against electricity theft and defaulters in Korangi Industrial Area and Orangi Marble Industrial Area, as per a press release.

In the past three months in the Orangi Marble Industrial Area, K-Electric has removed over 2,500kg of kunda or illegal connections from the utility’s infrastructure. Illegal connections, supplying around 100kW of stolen electricity, have now been disconnected.

In areas such as Mehran Town, Sharafi Goth, Shah Ali Goth, and Korangi Industrial Area, KE removed over 3,190kg worth of 300 kunda connections, stealing over 105,000 units of electricity, providing illegal power to more than 200 shops, houses, and small industries.

Fatima Fertiliser adopts SDB framework

Fatima Fertiliser partners with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) by adopting the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Impact Framework as per a press release. In this regard, Fatima Fertiliser in collaboration with UNDP, recently launched a special report titled “SDGs Impact through Businesses: Sustainability Framework for Fatima Fertiliser” The report outlines how the company has embedded the impact framework assessment into its business operations, mapping eight critical areas that align with achieving related UN SDGs.

Digital insurance innovation

TPL Insurance Ltd announces its collaboration with Samba Bank Limited to offer innovative digital transaction insurance coverage as per a press release.

This new insurance solution aims to protect Samba Bank customers against digital transaction risks, including account takeover, unauthorised transactions, social engineering, and ATM theft.
