TOBA TEK SINGH: A mother of five was allegedly killed by her husband and her younger brother for ‘honour’ on Wednesday at Chak 377 GB at Faisalabad.

According to the first information report registered by Rodala police under sections 302, 311, 201, and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), the complainant, Manzoor Ahmad, claimed that his daughter had an alleged affair in the village.

Her husband Yousaf informed her brother, Hassan Raza (the complainant’s son), and the two conspired to kill her for honour. When the woman was at home, they, along with two unidentified accomplices, attacked her with bricks. She sustained critical injuries and died on the spot.

Manzoor Ahmad said when he inquired about his daughter’s absence from the house, the suspects confessed to the murder. They also admitted to shifting her body on a donkey cart to the Thatha Nadir Sahi locality, where they dumped it in a nullah.

Police have arrested the two suspect and recovered the victim’s body. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the two other accomplices involved in the crime.

ADJOURNED: Faisalabad Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Javed Iqbal Sheikh on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of cases related to FIRs 732 and 835 until Dec 4.

These FIRs were registered on May 9, 2023, against hundreds of Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf (PTI) activists for their alleged involvement in attacks on the house of former federal interior minister Rana Sanaullah Khan and the burning of a police van outside the State Bank building.

The cases were registered by Samanabad and Civil Lines police, respectively, following the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan.

Over 400 suspects were required to appear in court for the hearings, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, opposition leaders in the National Assembly and Senate Umar Ayub and Shibli Faraz, and PTI Parliamentary Leader in the National Assembly Zartaj Gul Wazir.

However, none of the accused were present during the proceedings.

PTI’s legal team head Advocate Malik Khalid Shafiq informed the media that an application had been submitted to the court explaining that the accused could not attend due to the blockade of various motorways and highways. The judge accepted the one-time exemption for all accused and adjourned the trial to Dec 4.

ENCOUNTER: A robber was critically injured and captured, while his accomplice managed to escape in an encounter with Gojra City police on Wednesday near Chak 370 JB.

Police spokesperson Attaullah told reporters that when officials attempted to stop two bikers, the suspects opened fire on them and took cover in nearby bushes.

After the exchange of gunfire ceased, the police found one of the suspects injured at the scene. He was identified as Asadullah, a resident of Sahiwal, and was immediately shifted to the Gojra THQ Hospital for medical treatment.

According to the police, Asadullah was involved in numerous robberies and sustained injuries from bullets allegedly fired by his own accomplice during the encounter. Efforts are under way to arrest the fleeing suspect.

ROBBER KILLED: A robber was killed in an ‘encounter’ with Thikriwala police on Wednesday.

Police claimed that constable Ashfaq was looted by two robbers near Chak 63 JB and when he along with others chased them, they opened fire as a result a robber received a bullet fired by his own accomplice. He got injured critically and died instantly. He could not be identified so far.
