Two minors killed in Swat emerald mine accident

SWAT: Two workers were killed after elevator in an emerald mine collapsed here on Thursday.

The tragic incident occurred when an elevator rope snapped, causing two workers to fall to their death.

The workers, identified as Hussain Zada and Khairul Afsar, both residents of Shangla district, were performing their duties when the accident took place.

According to sources, the two workers were transferred to Saidu Sharif Hospital. Emergency responders were quick to act, but the victims were declared dead upon arrival.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety conditions at the mine and the need for improved regulations to ensure workers’ safety.

Local authorities are investigating the cause of the incident.

Meanwhile, a man killed his daughter-in-law and a youngster here on Thursday after allegedly finding them inside his house.

The tragic incident of honour-based violence took place in Gujar Banr area of Matta tehsil, Swat.

Police reported that the attack occurred within the confines of the family home, though the motive remains under investigation. Police said the husband of the woman was abroad.

The bodies of the victims were transported to Matta Hospital for autopsy and further examination.

Authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and have launched an inquiry into the matter.
