NORTH WAZIRISTAN: Five persons died and 10 others sustained injuries when a passenger vehicle fell into a deep ditch near the Saidgaye checkpost here on Friday.

Residents said that the vehicle was on its way from lower Wana towards North Waziristan. They said it went out of the driver’s control near Saidgaye checkpost in Mirali area and fell into a ditch.

They said that five persons were killed and 10 others injured. They said that most of the injured persons were students, who were going to take part in their examination. The residents said that the injured persons were shifted to a nearby hospital, wherefrom the critically wounded people were shifted to a hospital in Bannu.

The residents said that the security forces reached the spot immediately after the accident and assisted the rescue authorities in retrieving the injured and the bodies from the gorge and shifting them to hospital.
