BAHAWALPUR: A young couple and its two minor sons were burnt to death when a gas cylinder caught fire in their bedroom at Chak 437/EB, Azizabad, near Burewala tehsil of Vehari district.

According to the Rescue 1122 media coordinator, an LPG cylinder in the bedroom caught fire, which engulfed the entire room and caused serious burns to four sleeping members of the family.

Those burnt were identified as Danish Raza (24), his wife Zakia Batool (22), sons Farhan Abbas (6) and Ayan Abbas (2). All of them were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Vehari, where they succumbed to their burns.

In another fire incident, shoes, clothes and other articles worth about Rs4m were burnt in a fire in two closed shops on Thana Road at Adda Inayati near Qaimpur on the Hasilpur Road in Bahawalpur.

The locals tried to help the owners to extinguish the fire but it destroyed their clothes and shoes stocks. Later, the rescuers in their operation controlled the fire, which was caused by a short circuit inside the shops. No loss of life was reported.

ENCOUNTER: A proclaimed offender allegedly involved in murder and robbery cases was killed in a shooting in the limits of the Gulgasht Police Station in Multan.

According to police, Mazhar Langra was present in a house when they raided it. An exchange of firing occurred and Mazhar suffered injuries. Police claimed that he was injured by the firing of his own accomplices. Mazhar was arrested in an injured condition while two accomplices managed to flee. He was being shifted to hospital when he succumbed to his injuries.

According to police, Mazhar was also injured in a police encounter in the limits of Jalalpur Peerwala Police Station in Lodhran district but he managed to flee. Gulgasht police registered a case against his accomplices.

GANG-RAPE: Three suspects allegedly gang-raped a 14-year-old boy and recorded it on video in the limits of Multan Cantt Police Station.

According to police sources, the boy was friends with a man who took him in a car to a vacant house where he and his two accomplices raped the victim.

Cantt police registered a case and sent the victim to Nishtar Hospital for his medical examination.
