Man killed in fire

GUJRAT: A man was killed in a fire at an automobile workshop in the Sheranwala Gate locality of Gujranwala on Sunday.

Rescue sources said the fire had first erupted in an oil and lubricants workshop when someone threw a cigarette butt and it spread to some other shops in the market. A man was killed in the incident but he could not be identified. Officials of police and local administration also reached the spot. At least three fire engines of Rescue 1122 were busy extinguishing the fire when this report was filed.

Meanwhile, a car fell into the Upper Jhelum Canal near Jaggu headworks in Sara-i-Alamgir.

A local man rescued three of the car riders but he could not bring a man and a woman out.
