ISLAMABAD, Feb 4: Kenneth Dam, deputy secretary, United States Treasury at the head of a five-member delegation called on the President Gen Pervez Musharraf here on Monday.
He was accompanied by the US Ambassador Wendy Chamberlin. Mr Dam in a meeting with the president expressed satisfaction over Pakistan’s successful completion of first IMF standby agreement. He said that Pakistan is now on way to complete poverty reduction and growth facility programme.
He appreciated consistent economic policies being pursued by the government and hoped that the government’s strategy would have desired results.
As a result of structural, monetary, tax and social reforms introduced by the government, the economy would improve and it would have the desired effect on the population living specially in the rural areas.—APP
