UNEQUIPPED HOSPITAL: The situation at Jam Ghulam Qadir Hospital in Hub is alarming, and demands imme-diate intervention from relevant quarters. The hospital is in a bad shape, with lack of hygiene being pervasive. Besides, there is a lack of essential medical supplies and healthcare staff, putting the health and safety of people at risk. In times of emergency, patients often go without receiving necessary care. Tragically, some lives have been lost due to these serious shortcomings. As a vital part of the community, the hospital must be equipped with at least basic facilities to provide reliable and adequate medical services. The authorities concerned should address these critical issues.

ADULTERATED MILK: The supply of adulterated milk in the market has been a constant nuisance for consumers across Pakistan. Milk vendors often prioritise quantity over quality, and dilute the milk using water and harmful chem-icals that cause various diseases. All of this happens due to the lack of government control and policy. Those involved continue with their unethical and illegal practices without any fear of getting caught. The government must implement strict policies and regulations to ensure the supply of safe and healthy dairy products. Those who contaminate the milk should be strictly punished to discourage this deleterious practice.

UNLIVEABLE HOMES: Recently, a six-storey residential building in Karachi’s Lyari area was razed to the ground due to the recklessness of a builder. The builder had bought a plot adjacent to the building for a project. During excavation, the labourers dug beneath the pillars of the inhabited building. The residents felt tremors, and, fearing an earthquake, left their homes in the middle of the night. The builder mafia has rendered 19 families homeless. The government and the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) should compensate these families.
