Khelta Punjab divisional champions awarded prizes

SAHIWAL: Around 30 teams, three game events, 70 clubs and 204 players including 100 girls collected their trophies, medals and cash prizes in the final divisional level prize distribution ceremony of Khelta Punjab at the gymnasium on Tuesday.

The district-winning and runner-up teams in all categories of three districts- Pakpattan, Okara and Sahiwal participated in the prize divisional competitions under the supervision of their district sports departments.

Malik Qasim Nadeem, Naveed Aslam Lodhi, Pir Khizer Khagga, the MPAs, and other starlets of PML-N participated in the event. The competitions started on Nov 25 and ended on Dec 2.

Nisarul Haq, divisional sport officer, told Dawn more than two dozen venues were used for the competitions because there was hardly any single venue where all indoor and outdoor sports facilities were available.

Amir Rasheed, district sports officer, said the winners got Rs150,000, Rs100,000, Rs75000, Rs25,000, and Rs15,000 cash prizes along with medals and trophies.

Badminton, cricket, kabaddi, table tennis, football and hockey along with individual athletics, wrestling and taekwondo contest were held.
