MUZAFFARGARH: The next general elections scheduled to be held two and [a] half years from now, would be most free and impartial. This assurance was held out by Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto while addressing a big public meeting … here this afternoon [Dec 3]. He said he always remained bound by the decisions of the people… . Mr Bhutto said he was of the firm conviction that an era of the poor people could not dawn without a judicious and political order. The People’s Party was formed with this very objective in mind and it has been [a] successful achievement, he added.

[Meanwhile, as reported by our Islamabad Bureau,] the Radio and TV Corporations were brought under severe criticism by the Opposition members in the National Assembly … for their alleged indulgence in one-sided propaganda against the Opposition and not giving adequate coverage to the opposition’s views. The issue was raised through two privilege motions — the first moved by Jamaat-i-Islami’s Prof. Ghafoor Ahmad and the second by CML’s Chaudhri Zahur Elahi. Both the motions were opposed by the Government and … the Speaker kept them pending.
