KASUR: Two seminary students died on Wednesday when a wall collapsed at Markzi Eidgah Madrasa on Eidgah Road in the jurisdiction of Changa Manga police.

Police said the wall, in a dilapidated state, fell on Ahmed, 12, and Dilawar, 6, both from Multan.

Locals and seminary staff retrieved Dilawar’s body and Ahmed, who was injured. Ahmed was taken to Chunian THQ Hospital and later referred to Lahore due to critical injuries but succumbed on the way.

Police completed legal formalities and handed over the bodies to the families.

BAR: The Kasur District Bar Association (DBA) criticised the police for negligence over non-functional CCTV cameras in the city.

DBA President Fahad Akram told reporters that it was a “criminal lapse” that had turned the area into a haven for criminals.

He accused the police of allowing illegal kite and twine businesses to operate year-round, only taking action during the Basant festival while sparing influential individuals, including local lawmakers.

Mr Akram also highlighted alleged police collusion with drug pushers, accusing them of accepting bribes to favour influential suspects during investigations, leading to their bail and acquittal.

He urged senior police officials and the chief minister to investigate these issues in the public interest.
