RAWALPINDI: Three people, including two brothers, were murdered, while three women of a family were injured in two separate incidents in Dhamial and Kotli Sattian during the last 24 hours.

In Dhamial, Tayyab Ahmad, 40, a shop owner in the area, was axed to death by an enraged man who later surrendered to police after killing the man on Thursday, police said.

Police said Tayyab was sitting in his shop when the alleged killer came and attacked him with an axe, killing him on the spot.

After attacking and killing the man, the alleged killer made an attempt on his brother who ran away. However, he continued chasing him until the people from the surrounding areas rescued Tayyab’s brother.

Police said later the alleged killer surrendered to the police. The second incident happened in Kotli Sattian where two persons were shot dead while three others were injured over a family dispute.

Naveed Akhtar, lodged an FIR with the police saying that he was at his home when he heard noise at about 11.14 pm. He rushed to his nephew Mohammad Basharat’s house. On seeing his house lights switched off and Sherroz carrying a repeater gun was standing there.

He said in the meantime, Sherooz fired gunshots on Nizarat who got injured and he also fired a gunshot on Mohammad Basharat who was also injured critically.

He further said that Nazarat’s wife and two other women of the family attempted to intervene but they were also shot and injured. Later the attackers escaped from the scene.

On hearing the gunshots, a large number of residents of the area gathered there. Subsequently, the injured were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ).

He said that Basharat and Nazarat, the two brothers succumbed to their injuries on reaching the hospital. The motive behind the double murder was a family dispute, police said.
