TOBA TEK SINGH: Faisalabad Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA’s) composite team arrested a man on Friday in connection with the Libyan boat accident that occurred on March 22.

An FIA official said Faisal Shahzad, a proclaimed offender, was arrested in Daska, Sialkot.

Shahzad allegedly extorted Rs1.3 million from a citizen, promising to send him to Europe via Libya on the same boat that later capsized, resulting in the victim’s death.

Shahzad has been handed over to the FIA’s human trafficking circle for further investigation.

In another operation, the FIA raided a travel and tour agency in Chaudhry Orchard, Faisalabad, arresting three individuals — Amer Ali, Adnan Maqbool, and Muhammad Asadullah — for their involvement in visa fraud and human trafficking.

Officials recovered 38 passports, 33 CNICs, 120 bank deposit slips, three laptops, and four mobile phones during the raid.

KIDNAPPED: Maryam Fatima, a BBA student at Government College University of Faisalabad, and her three-year-old daughter were reportedly kidnapped in Faisalabad on Friday.

Tanweer Ahmad, the complainant and husband of the Maryam, said in an FIR registered at Gulberg police under Section 496A of the PPC that his wife and daughter left for university but did not return. He suspects foul play.

CPO Kamran Adil has assigned the Lyallpur Division SP to investigate the case and ensure the safe recovery of the woman and her child.

DROWN: Seventeen-year-old Dilber Waris drowned in a sewerage nullah in the Jalalabad locality of Jhang on Friday evening.

Waris, of Basti Dewanwali, slipped into the nullah while trying to catch a stray kite. Rescue teams recovered his body shortly after the incident.

AMPUTATED LEG: An amputated leg of an unidentified man was found near the football ground chowk in Khanewal on Friday evening.

SHO Malik Saeed of Khanewal city police shifted the limb to DHQ Hospital and initiated an investigation.

CIVIL DEFENCE: The Federal Civil Defence Training School of Faisalabad has introduced eight new courses to address emerging industrial safety needs.

Director General of Civil Defence Niaz Muhammad Khan emphasized during an FCCI meeting that the syllabus could be further upgraded in consultation with industrialists. The courses aim to train master trainers within industries to provide in-house training on fire safety and loss minimization.

Other speakers included Qaisar Shams Gucha, Waheed Khaliq Ramay, Naveed Akram Sheikh, Mirza Zahid Iqbal and Mian Imtiaz Ali.

BIKE RALLY: Faisalabad Police organised a bike rally on Friday to promote women empowerment.

The rally, which started at D Ground and ended at the service center, was led by CPO Kamran Adil.

Participants included CTO Farhan Aslam, Women Police Station Inspector Gulnaz, Protection Center In Charge Madiha Irshad, Friend of Police In Charge Farah Baool, women traffic wardens and members of civil society.
