LAHORE: A newlywed couple was allegedly found murdered in their rented house in Kot Lakhpat area here on Friday.

Identified as Izhar, the young man was living in a rented flat along with his wife, Arvish, on Chindrai Road.

A police official said some residents alerted the police about the double murder. As the police reached the site, they found the bodies of the couple with slit throats.

Izhar was a resident of Gilgit-Baltistan and he had recently contracted love marriage with Arvish.Apparently, it seems that they were allegedly murdered in the name of honour, the police official said. He said the police were trying to contact their relatives as they were informed that Izhar’s maternal uncle also lived in the same area.

The bodies have been shifted to the city morgue for postmortem and further investigations are underway.
