LAHORE: Pakistan aces Mahoor Shahzad and Palwasha Bashir won their respective singles and doubles matches in the National Badminton Ranking Tournament at POF, Wah on Friday.

Wapda’s Mahoor secured a hard-fought victory over Sana Hanif of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL) by 21-8, 25-23, clinching her spot in the singles semi-finals.

Sindh’s Palwasha teaming up with Wapda’s Ghazala Siddique, meanwhile dispatched the pair of Sana and Mariya Hanif (Sindh) with a convincing 21-3, 21-13 win to reach the doubles quarter-finals.

The women’s singles quarter-finals also saw Wapda’s Ghazala Siddique cruising past Umama Usman of SNGPL with a comfortable 21-10, 21-8 win. Wapda’s Laiba Masoud delivered a come-from-behind victory, defeating Kanzul Eman of Punjab 19-21, 21-12, 21-15.

Meanwhile, in the men’s singles quarter-finals, Wapda’s Irfan Saeed triumphed over Mohammad Adnan of Army 21-18, 21-16, while Muqeet Tahir, also of Wapda, defeated department fellow Aoun Abbas 21-13, 21-9.

Wapda’s Awais Zahid also secured a spot in the semi-finals, overcoming Zohaib Khan Khalil of Police by 21-8, 21-19. The fourth semi-finalist, M. Ali Larosh of Wapda got the better of SNGPL’s Tayyab Shafiq 21-17, 21-7.
