HYDERABAD, April 14: People’s Party Parliamentarians MPA Sassui Palijo has demanded that a judicial inquiry by judges of the Supreme Court should be held into the Nishtar Park blast and terrorists should be awarded exemplary punishment.

Speaking at a news conference at the Hyderabad press club here on Friday, she said that the Nishtar Park carnage had raised many questions about security lapses, breakdown of administrative machinery and law as well as government policies.

She said that the people were now fed up with the statements of rulers on gruesome incidents of terrorism.

She said that the incident was the result of incompetence of the government which had done nothing to investigate previous incidents of terrorism and thrown them into cold storage.

She said that intelligence agencies had also failed to perform their duty because they had been given other agenda by the rulers. She said that the Sindh government had completely failed in enforcing the writ of law.

Referring to contradictory statements of government functionaries about the Nishtar Park tragedy, she demanded that the inquiry should be conducted by judges of the Supreme Court and the Sindh government should accept its responsibility and resign forthwith.

PPP leaders Zahid Bhurgari, Amanullah Siyal, Aftab Khanzado and Zahir Ghumman were present on the occasion.
