An unfair discount

Published December 8, 2024

THIS is with reference to the report ‘KWSC announces up to 35pc concession for defaulters’ (Oct 31). I am a resident of Clifton and have always paid utility bills, including that of Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC), on time without any default.

I am disappointed that the KWSC is offering 35 per cent discount to chronic defaulters who have not paid for years. If I had known this, I would also have avoided paying the amount and enjoyed the services of KWSC free. This is not a case of life being unfair; the government and its departments are unfair.

The KWSC should give the same discount, if not more, to those who have been paying their taxes all these years. After all, there should be some benefit for the law-abiding citizens as well.
