QUETTA: The Balochistan inspector general of police, Moazzam Jah Ansari, emphasised the importance of technology in combating terrorism and criminal activities across the province.

Speaking to trainee officers at the Provincial Services Academy on Saturday, he said that since Balochistan is the largest province by area, maintaining law and order here was no less than a challenge and ensuring security was more complex compared to other provinces.

“Despite limited resources and a small force, the Balochistan Police are working efficiently. The use of the latest technology, including CCTV cameras, is essential to further improve policing in urban areas,” he said.

Mr Ansari added efforts were being taken to maintain peace in the province and operations against criminal elements would be continued to root out terrorism.

He said despite difficult circumstances and limited resources, the police personnel were performing their duties with hard work, dedication and honesty.

He emphasised that the police would continue to carry out their responsibilities, and any shortcomings should be pointed out to improve the system.

However, he stressed that the selfless sacrifices of the police must also be acknowledged.

He also called for an increase in the number of female police officers in the province.
