RAWALPINDI: Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has directed all regional police officers (RPOs) to provide the details of police crackdowns against firearm manufacturers, illegal sellers and illegal repairers in the last five years.

According to sources, the IGP has also sought the details of FIRs registered in this regard besides district-wise details of legal weapon manufacturers, firearm/ammunition dealers and repairer of weapons.

This is the second such reminder to all divisional police chiefs regarding information about arms and ammunition seized by police. The first communiqué was sent to RPOs in November this year while the second reminder was sent on December 6.

Following the directive, the RPO has ordered the city police officer Rawalpindi and the district police officers of Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal and Murree to send all the details sought by the IGP.
