Land for graveyard

GUJRAT: The Punjab government has sanctioned a piece of land measuring 40 kanals for the establishment of a graveyard near Haidery underpass of Gujranwala city.

A sum of Rs100 million has also been approved for the execution of the project since the city has been facing an issue regarding the burial of the dead.

Gujranwala Commissioner Naveed Haider Sheerazi along with the senior PML-N leader and former federal minister Khurram Dastgir Khan, MPAs Imran Khalid Butt, Umar Farooq Dar and senior officials of Gujranwala district administration visited the site.

Briefing about the project, the commissioner said that the people of this city area had long been demanding the provision of land for the graveyard after which elected representatives proposed the site near Haidery underpass.

He said the Punjab government had not only allocated the piece of land but also released the initial amount for the execution of the project.

Khurram Dastgir Khan commended the execution of the project for the local community by the Punjab government.
