SWABI: Two young motorcyclists were killed in a road accident, while a former employee of Pakistan Television was shot dead here, the police and rescue officials said on Sunday.

A rescue official said two motorcycles collided on Gadoon Amazai Road, killing two youngsters.

He said a team of Rescue 1122 reached the spot and shifted a body and two injured to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.

The official said Abuzar Khan, 25, hailing from Dara area, died on the spot, while Hamad Khan, 24, and Hidayat Khan 25, were critically injured. However, Hamad later succumbed to injuries in hospital.

SHO Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate police station Farooq Khan said the collision occurred as a result of reckless driving by the motorcyclists.

Meanwhile, a former electrical engineer of PTV, Bahramand Khan, was shot dead allegedly by his relatives on Saturday night when he was returning home in a car, his son said on Sunday.

Registering an FIR with the Swabi city police station, Arshad Iqbal said the deceased was accompanied him (the complainant) and driver. He said as they reached near Mal Lara on Swabi-Jehangira Road two motorcyclists, Ahmad Hussain and his father, Gohar Ali, who were already waiting in ambush, started firing at them. As a result, Iqbal said his father was killed on the spot, while he along with their driver survived the attack.

He said they had a dispute with the accused on a commercial centre located on the Link Road.

The police started further investigations after registering the FIR.

PRESS CLUB ELECTIONS: Jalil Ahmad Khan and Muqaddam Khan were elected unopposed as president and general secretary, respectively, of Swabi Press Club for 2025 on Sunday.

The one-year tenure of the incumbent cabinet of the press club will be completed on Dec 31 and the new cabinet will assume charge to run affairs of the club as per its constitution on Jan 1, 2025.

The other members of the press club, who were also elected unopposed included Shaukat Ali Khan Anjum senior vice-president, Mohammad Ayub vice-president, Mohammad Adil deputy general secretary, Syed Arif Shah joint secretary and Mohammad Iqbal finance secretary.
