TOBA TEK SINGH: A boy shot a murder suspect dead on the premises of Faisalabad district courts complex, where the victim was brought for appearance by police on Monday.

Police and court sources say that Ali Imran of Chak 244 RB was arrested by Roshanwala police as a suspect in the murder of one Sajjad.

On Monday, Imran was brought to the district courts complex from jail by the police for appearance in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Awais.

As the hand-cuffed suspect was being taken to the courtroom, Saqlain Zafar, a cousin of the slain, Sajjad, opened indiscriminate fire, leaving Imran dead on the spot. The attacker later surrendered himself before the police.

RPO orders probe into incident at dist courts complex

Regional Police Officer Dr Muhammad Abid Khan has directed CPO Kamran Adil to hold an inquiry into the matter to find out how the suspect succeeded in bringing a gun inside the complex despite strict checking.

INFANT BURNT ALIVE: A baby girl was burnt alive and her three siblings and their father suffered serious burns when a fire broke out in their one-room house at Pirmahal tehsil’s Chak 670/11 GB.

Rescue 1122 officials say, Imtiaz Ahmad (35) was employed as a helper at a farm and lived in a room at an outhouse, along with his wife and four children.

On Sunday night, Imtiaz made a fire inside the room to keep warm. As the family fell asleep, a drum containing diesel, kept in the room, caught fire that engulfed the whole place.

Panicked by the fire, Imtiaz and his wife succeeded to run out of the room along with theirthree children --Abdul Hameed (7), Eiman Fatima (5) and Ahmad Ali (2) -- but failed to pick their 10-month-old daughter, Hifza, who was burnt alive in the blaze.

Imtiaz and his three children suffered burns and were shifted to Pirmahal THQ hospital.

SUICIDE: A man allegedly died by suicide after he shot at and injured his wife in Firdous Colony on Jhang Road, Faisalabad, on Monday evening.

According to Factory Area police, Tariq Majeed (45) quarrelled with his wife Asma Bibi over some domestic issue and opened fire on her.

As a result Asma was critically wounded. Tariq later went to the rooftop of his house and shot himself in the head. He died on the spot.

The injured woman had been shifted to the Allied Hospital, where she is said to be in critical condition.

MAN RECOVERED: Misson police, Jhang, claimed to have recovered a kidnapped youth in a raid in Muzaffargarh on Monday.

As per the police, Muhammad Usman (20) was allegedly kidnapped by three persons on Dec 7. The kidnappers, in a phone call to the victim’s parents, demanded ransom for the release of their son.

However, the police traced the call and recovered the youth in a successful raid in Muzaffargarh.

A police spokesperson claimed that the kidnappers managed to escape and raids were being conducted to arrest them.

GCUF SEMINAR: Speakers at a seminar held on Monday at the Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) stressed the importance of creating social awareness about the protection of human rights and urged collective efforts for social reforms.

In his address, GCUF Vice Chancellor Dr Rauf-I-Azam said that the protection of human rights could not be the responsibility of the government alone. He called for an active participation of civil society, academia, and other stakeholders to address the human rights issues effectively.

He also warned that unlimited freedom could lead to deterioration, and called for adopting a balanced and moderate approach to reform society.

MPA Qudsia Batool said that the fundamental rights of women are key to social development. She highlighted the reforms carried out by the Punjab government to promote human rights, particularly for women.

Dr Ghulam Mustafa stressed the need for promoting values such as tolerance, equality, brotherhood, and peace to foster a harmonious society.

Dr Rizwanullah Kokab, Dr Iram Sultana, and Sonia Patras, also spoke.
